Protests/demos are a testament to the fact of the existence of a democratic culture in a polity. Therefore it should not send cold shudders down the spine of government/s as to warrant their thinking the citizenry would be corrupting a traditional institution/festival if they protest on the day of the festival; taking of traditional fathers from their domains to beg prospective protesters and instigating all the uniformed XXL Bullies to be hollering at citizens, threatening fire and brimstones, promising to crush any who dares protests.
If anything else demonstrates that BAT was not just ill-prepared for the top job, but that he’s indeed, not the man for the job or the expected ‘messiah’, it is the panicky measure, the fire brigade approach, the mindless, bestial militancy he is getting his agberos in in low and high places, together with the zombies, follow-follow-Yes-‘President’- we-concur people at the Apex Legislative Assembly (ALA) to threaten, deride and offer counter-narratives to the proposed nationwide protest.
A better way to respond to a planned national demo which is within the democratic right of the citizenry is to appeal against it in a fatherly, democratic manner, letting it be known to his compatriots the obvious setback it might occasion, leading to an unprecedented, uncontainable national untowardness, ontological disequilibrium of immense proportion, especially in a high voltage polity like ours that is unarguably super-sensitive, highly inflammable, highly combustible and super eruptive, proceeding therefrom to showcase all of the government’s efforts since May 29, 2023 to put the economy and the polity on the upward trajectory of growth and development, including critical national infrastructure; number of people out of work when he took over over from Mugammadu Bugadi (Muhammadu Buhari of Niger Republic); how many in work now; the projected number to be in work in the next quarter until the end of the current fiscal year by way of informing, explaining and educating the Nigerian people about the practical steps taken thus far to reposition both the polity and the economy as the two like the Siamese twins go pari passu, the many missteps, which of course, his neo-colonial government is ‘blessed’ with; then presenting the future to the people in a form of government’s holistic and sectoral strategic thinking (short termism/mid-termism and long termism) backed by effective and strategic implementation and monitoring; then inviting the private sector through its apex association, MAN as partners in progress as well as cajoling and persuading his already brow-beaten and hunger-stricken compatriots to come join his government at the construction site/s instead of protest/demo sites which are on the nation’s streets and highways, after having genuinely acknowledged their constitutional right to protest, but letting them know through conviction on the construction site option as against the protest/demo option; and then announcing a package for MAN/the private sector; a total package for economic and political restructuring aimed at accelerated growth and development, both urban/metropolitan and rural development; speaking as a true and genuine patriot, father, gentleman, statesman, conviction and pragmatic democrat, being caringly and oratorically persuasive, relying on the tool of moral suasion instead of BAT’s usual resort to monstrous, cannibalistic and fatalistic gangsterism - jagaja, scatter-scatter, ma n’e perplex – area father sort of braggadocio or BATistic bestiality or animalism such as is common with awon omota (louts); asking the youth how come they think he has forgotten them when he has young people like them, even though mere parasites – his hanging around nkwenkwes – Seyi and Yinka, the hanging around siblings – and then, and then, and then bring out his classic employment strategy (the Tinubuan Employment Magic – TEM) of recruiting 50 million into the army alone; 70 million youth for the Air Force; 90 million into the Navy; 100 million into Amotekun; another 100 million into the nation’s multitude of paramilitary, all crowding the policing space, which has now confused, depersonalised and demoralised the police – and not forgetting 150 million into the police and Yellow Fever – youth unemployment solved under a second – oshi oda!: https://punchng.com/insecurity-recruit-50-million-youths-into-army-tinubu-urges-fg/, accessed: 27/07/204.
