Vigilance can confirm that METROPOLITAN Police Service (MPS) officers will once again be handing out leaflets aimed at informing demonstrators of what to expect from the police at a march and rally on Saturday 29 January.
The leaflet aims to dispel myths and rumours and explains what the policing operation will look like on the day as well as offering some common sense advice on how to avoid getting caught up in any disorder or violence.
Vigilance learnt that the leaflets will be distributed at the march organised by the Education Activist Network alongside The National Campaign Against Fees & Cuts.
The leaflet also informs protestors of how and where they can make a complaint and how they can go about giving information about disorder they have witnessed.
Superintendent Dave Hartshorn said: ”The leaflet clearly explains to demonstrators what to expect from police on the day. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback about the leaflet we sent out for the last student demonstration and will look to carry on using this as a communication tool in the future.”
