In recent months it has been hard to avoid hearing the latest business buzz phrase of cybersecurity. Unfortunately, despite searches of popular retail sites, fully functional sonic screw drivers, as used by Doctor Who to defeat the cybermen, are not yet available. However, three key weapons that are available for cybersecurity are:

Information Security: Ensures that Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability are appropriately addressed;
Application Security: Provides assurance that the systems and applications are not vulnerable; and
End-User Education: Potentially the most powerful weapon to prevent an attack taking hold and causing damage.

BSIA canvasses exporting as catalyst for growth in recession

Since the announcement of the death of Captain Walter Reid Barrie by the Ministry of Defence tributes have continued to pour in from amongst his family members, friends, superior officers and the grateful British public. Captain Barrie from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (abbreviated ‘1 SCOTS’) according to the MoD was shot in an 'insider attack' at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Shawqat in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand Province on Sunday 11 November 2012.

Every organisation experiences user frustrations and complications that result in support calls to the help desk. While each call may seem to suggest a unique problem, have you ever stopped to ask whether there could be a common root cause? While it may seem black and white – the machine works and now it doesn’t, I’d argue that the majority of scenarios can actually be pinpointed to the same problem, just in different ‘grey’ guises?
