Global Study Reveals IoT Adoption is at 69 Percent Despite Security Concerns

Despite the rise of high-profile IoT botnet attacks Mirai and Reaper, nearly half of organisations surveyed plan to roll-out IoT deployments on existing enterprise networks

West Byfleet, UK: Cradlepoint has announced the release of a new Cradlepoint Business Intelligence Report, “The State of IoT 2017-2018”, which reveals the current IT practices, perceptions and future plans surrounding global Internet of Things (IoT) deployments. The findings of the underlying study revealed that even though over 69 percent of organisations have adopted, or plan to adopt, IoT solutions within the next year, 40 percent of companies have serious concerns around cybersecurity.

Appointment arrives at critical juncture for the fire industry

A senior figure within the fire sector – Tom Brookes - has been appointed as the new chair of the Fire & Security Association (FSA), after being confirmed in the role last week.

Mr. Brookes has over 25 years’ experience within the fire industry, having started work as a fire engineer in 1992. He bought Lindum Fire Services in 2002, and has since turned it into one of the major fire detection and alarm systems organisations within Lincolnshire.

UK EXTENDS SUPPORT TO PEACEKEEPING IN SOUTH SUDAN

Defence Minister Lord Howe made the announcement at the 2017 United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial in Vancouver.

At the event, co-hosted by the UK and partners, which comes one year on from the meeting held in London, Lord Howe announced that the UK is extending its deployment of some 300 British Army engineers to the UN Mission in South Sudan for an additional year, until April 2020.
