Global security Octopus, Securitas, has acquired yet another security firm...security consulting company in the Netherlands

The global economy may be in recession, but one company, Securitas appears to be saying, “To hell with you, recession!” as it’s traversing the globe to acquire one company after another. The latest addition to the Securitas Group is the security consulting company, Interseco in the Netherlands whose Enterprise value has been estimated at MSEK 43 (MEUR 4.5).

Interseco, with annual sales of approximately MSEK 65 (MEUR 7) and approximately 50 employees, focuses on advising and assisting their customers to detect and gain control of crime risks. Interseco offers mainly four types of services: consultancy, investigation, security and training services.

Launch of SIA Members' Forum: Can the Security Institute remove the ‘securitymare’ hanging over the future of the SIA and the future of regulation within the British security industry?

In recent times, the British security industry has witnessed its own ‘snowmare’, or if you like, ‘securitymare’ following Government’s plans to replace the Security Industry Authority with a new regulatory body yet to be announced. The Government has consulted very widely; and is still doing so with key industry players, institutes and organisations; save the SIA licensed Security Officers themselves, as the ignorance displayed by field officers about this very matter, leaves much to be desired.

Cloud Security Alliance appoints EMEA Strategy Advisor

Mr Raj Samani was last week appointed as the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) EMEA Strategy Advisor.

The role is a non-compensated role that is intended to advise the CSA on best practices and a roadmap within EMEA, as well as support existing and developing CSA Chapters where appropriate within EMEA. The CSA is a non-profit organization formed to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.
