Athena Risk, experts in security risk management solutions, has opened a new office in the United States and launched an original smartphone app to help business people plan travel and assess risks.
The Newcastle-upon-Tyne–based company is targeting the United States to exploit a gap in the market where it can provide more comprehensive security management services than those available in the country.
Tampa-based universities have already shown an interest in Athena Risks’ security risk management solutions with potential plans to work together in the future.
Operating across a variety of sectors, the company has a particular focus on the energy industry and supporting the cross-country activities of supply chain businesses. A member of business development organisation, NOF Energy, Athena Risk has experience in key energy regions including Africa, South America, Middle East and South East Asia.
Athena Risk’s smartphone app, the Travel Guardian, features its global risk management software. The Travel Guardian can co-ordinate a risk assessment of every country in the world as well as provide helpful tips. The application offers advice on a range of issues including currency rates, access for corporate travellers and even simple travel advice such as which plug adapters are required in different countries.
Athena Risk provides bespoke security risk management packages for clients which have ambitions of operating business in other countries. Established for just over a year, the company offers means of clarifying the risks of the clients’ desired location, as well their own vulnerabilities.
To provide the package, Athena Risk has to go through the process of what the company does, understanding its objectives and weaknesses. It will then assess the company’s target markets against recognised risks for the country, which can include: terrorism; seasonal trends; cultural factors and power supply. Once determining these factors, Athena Risk then take the relevant actions to eliminate them.
In less than a year of launching, Athena Risk has also achieved three ISO accreditations to reflect its pledge to remain environmentally conscious, whilst maintaining the highest quality. The company has an ISO 9001 quality management accreditation, an ISO:140000 for environmental service and an ISO:27001 for information security.
David Tait, Director at Athena Risk said “Security has an instrumental part to play in the success of any business, and that ideology, in addition to the services that we specifically offer, transcend well in the United States.
Companies are more concerned than ever about the movement of staff, environmental impact and keeping confidential information safe at all times and we can work with them to help them make carefully calculated decisions.”
Paul Livingstone, Business Development Manager at NOF Energy said, “It’s great to see that supply chain companies can turn to a high-quality security company like Athena Risk, when seeking out potential global platforms.”
