London: Comodo has announced its cooperation with UK distributor VCW Security. Comodo currently protects more than 75 million endpoints worldwide and more than 750,000 organisations and merchants through its security certificates.
VCW Security now offers a range of Comodo’s endpoint security products including Endpoint Security Manager, Anti-Spam Gateway, UTM (Unified Threat Management) and Mobile Device Management (MDM).
Comodo's Endpoint Security Manager provides next generation proactive endpoint security offering five layers of defence (antivirus, firewall, host intrusion prevention, auto-sandbox and file rating) to the desktop as main point of impact. Comodo’s unique technology creates an impenetrable shield that identifies safe, unsafe and questionable files.
Traditional antivirus solutions use a detection-based approach whereby items are examined against a “blacklist” (a list of known bad files/threats) to determine which programmes or files are safe to run or allow system access. The problem with this approach is all threats must be known. Based on this limitation, it is impossible for a blacklist to be 100% up to date with all global threats.
Comodo’s unique, patented, fully automatic sandbox isolation technology proactively protects against persistent, unknown and zero-day programmes and applications. The auto sandboxing technology creates a virtual shield that identifies safe, unsafe and questionable files and executables, automatically isolating both unsafe and unknown files. It allows only known, trusted files to enter the system.
Traditional antivirus programmes not only rely on an outdated model of lists and heuristics, but also do not offer any guarantees. In contrast, Comodo, based on the strength of its solutions, is the first and only antivirus vendor offering customers a limited warranty against infection of up to $5,000.
Simon Jackson, Commercial Director at VCW Security, said: “Comodo represents an opportunity for our valued partner network to offer a set of products that are genuinely innovative in the antivirus market – a market with virtually no innovation in the last years. The unique technology offered by Comodo is supported by its warranty – giving all users complete peace of mind.”
James Tomlinson, Channel Manager, Northern Europe at Comodo, said: “VCW Security has a wide range of experience in value added services through their extensive reseller networks. Comodo has a strong track record of providing the best breed of high-tech products to the UK security industry. We are looking forward to working with them.”
