Global terrorism conference among featured education tracks
Alexandria, Va.: ASIS International (ASIS) will host its 24th New York City Security Conference & Expo, March 13-14, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York. The largest regional conference for security and law enforcement professionals, the two-day event, hosted by the ASIS NYC Chapter, delivers a full program of education sessions and an exhibit floor of more than 150 product innovators and service providers. Nearly 3,000 security practitioners, corporate decision-makers, and law enforcement personnel from Maine to Florida and across the nation are expected to attend.
“New York City is the global epicenter for business and finance. As such, many of the foremost experts in physical and information security from both the public and private sectors reside in the city or surrounding region, and are drawn to this annual event,” remarked George W. Anderson, chair, ASIS New York City Chapter. “This one-of-a-kind forum extends incomparable peer networking opportunities that facilitate open exchange of lessons learned and business strategies among security professionals at all points in their careers. Additionally, for those planning for a second career in security following law enforcement or military service, this event is a must attend.”
Among the education sessions planned for this year’s event, the ASIS Global Terrorism, Political Instability, and International Crime Council will present a session track dedicated to current topics and trends in terrorism. “Our chief objective in delivering this track is to convene top experts from the public and private sectors to provide critical knowledge, strategies, and countermeasures that a security practitioner in any business sector can take back to their organization and readily apply,” says Bill Scott, CPP, chair, Global Terrorism Conference.
Former NYPD First Deputy Commissioner and Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Joseph P. Dunne, will deliver the keynote address on Thursday, March 13 at 9:00 a.m. Dunne, a 32-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, is the first to serve as CSO in the newly created security department within the bi-state agency.
The chapter will present its 2014 Person of the Year during a special luncheon event on Friday, March 14 at noon at the Jacob K. Javits Center. Tickets to attend the luncheon are included with a full conference registration. Single tickets may be purchased in advance or on-site for $75 each. Tables of 10 can be reserved.
