London, UK: Information technology (IT) professionals in Venice, Italy, have formed a new chapter of ISACA, a non-profit IT audit, security and governance association serving more than 95,000 professionals in 160 countries. ISACA now has 195 chapters worldwide.

The ISACA Venice Chapter’s mission is to provide support to local ISACA members, promote IT education, and strengthen the governance of enterprise IT throughout organizations in Italy to help enterprises gain trust in, and value from, their information systems. More than 50 members have already joined the chapter.

“We aim to help enterprises and their professionals in Northeast Italy achieve better governance of their IT systems,” said Orillo Narduzzo, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CCSA, ISACA Venice Chapter president. “We have two chief audit executives on our board and I think they will be motivating success stories for our members. We invite IT professionals to join the chapter to further develop their skills and certify their competencies.”

To achieve its goals, the chapter will offer eight meetings in Venice and Padua during 2012. The chapter also will offer seminars, workshops, certification review courses, COBIT training courses and networking opportunities, along with a chapter web site that will include all chapter activities. The chapter is investigating offering a week-long training course this summer to provide in-depth, classroom training to area IT professionals.

“To start up the activities of the ISACA Venice Chapter officially, we are organizing a conference with international speakers in March 2012, titled Waiting for COBIT 5: IT Governance andCOBIT® Process Assessment Model (PAM),” said Narduzzo. “This will be an opportunity to learn about the improvements COBIT 5 will bring and how COBIT PAM can be used to maximize the effectiveness of IT processes.”
