London, UK: Varonis Systems, Inc. has been recognised by Gartner as a “Representative Vendor” in its 2015 Market Guide for File Analysis Software.
In its market analysis, Gartner said, “File analysis is used for three primary reasons:
Increase operational efficiency
Lower IT costs
Mitigate corporate risk”
Authored by Gartner analysts Alan Dayley, Debra Logan, Jie Zhang and Garth Landers, the guide highlights the advantages of adopting file analysis along with key findings and recommendations on how to implement the software and a sample list of representative vendors.
David Gibson, Varonis Vice President, said, “Having spent the past decade pioneering and building out a range of solutions for managing and protecting critical data, we are pleased that Gartner has recognised Varonis as a Representative Vendor in file analysis. It is clear to us that Gartner's evaluation of file analysis software and its growing importance is consistent with the way Varonis and our customers continue to realise value by analyzing the content, metadata and activity associated with unstructured data files. Unstructured business data such as emails, spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and other files created and shared by employees is often unmonitored and unprotected, and this data continues to be the point of weakness in some of the most devastating hacks around the world. Connecting the dots between people and these files, and fully understanding the content within them, is finally becoming the recommended way to ensure that an organisation's valuable and sensitive files are protected.”
In assessing the market direction of file analysis software, the Gartner report states: “Organisations are struggling with ever-growing and uncontrolled data complexity. Progressive and cost-conscious organisations are realising they need a better understanding of their data to effectively manage their growing storage environments, as well as to facilitate business use of data that has previously been deemed ‘dark.’ The desire to optimise storage costs, implement information governance, mitigate business risks (including security and privacy risks) and analyse unstructured data are among the key factors driving the adoption of file analysis.”
The Varonis Metadata Framework is the basis for a wide range of use cases including user behaviour analytics (UBA), sensitive data classification and remediation, identity and access rights management, enterprise search, and storage reduction. Thousands of organisations around the world rely on Varonis to curtail over-exposure of their most valuable and sensitive data and help prevent the inevitable network breaches for causing harm.
