Vigilance can report that ADT Fire & Security, Europe’s leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, has received the prestigious British Safety Council International Safety Award in recognition of its exemplary commitment to the health, safety and well-being of its employees through market leading health and safety management.

The British Safety Council is a charity devoted to helping businesses to improve their health, safety and environmental management initiatives. The prestigious International Safety Award has been in existence for over fifty years, and is given to organisations in recognition of a proven commitment to workplace health and safety.

ADT which was rated very highly received a 59 out of 60 mark for its Head Office and local branch, collective homes to 300 members of staff and located in Sunbury, London. The score was awarded following rigorous standardisation and awarding procedures conducted by independent, chartered health and safety adjudicators on behalf of the British Safety Council.

The award recognised ADT’s health and safety initiatives that ranged from fire safety to employee well-being; including regular risk auditing, health checks and a cycle to work campaign rolled out across all business units. These were highlighted as positive testimonials to the effective schemes and initiatives carried out at ADT.

John Barnacle-Bowd, Head of Quality Assurance and Environment, Health and Safety ADT Fire & Security, on receiving the award said: “Our employees are the very lifeblood of our business and we are committed to safeguarding their well-being and safety to ensure a positive and happy work environment. This award recognises just some of our proactive initiatives which show our continued dedication to all aspects of health and safety.”

Whilst Alex Botha, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulating ADT enthused: “What ADT has demonstrated is that a well-managed health and safety programme ensures the safety and wellbeing of employees and contributes to business effectiveness and success.  The health and safety of employees is non-negotiable, and ADT has shown great determination and diligence in making this a priority.”
