IFSEC International 2017 is set to be another impressive event, with an extensive seminar programme and a wide range of security products and services on show. While there is plenty to see across the show floor, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) also has some exciting events planned throughout the week.
Located on stand B1300, the BSIA remains a prominent partner of IFSEC, with a variety of BSIA staff and members partaking in this year’s busy seminar and debate programme. As well as promoting the importance of choosing a reputable supplier and providing an exclusive lounge for BSIA members to relax in or hold meetings, this year, the BSIA will also be hosting some special events on its stand.
Firstly, on Wednesday 21st June at 12:30pm, the BSIA will play host to an exclusive networking event, sponsored by leading technology innovator NetVu Ltd, who will be joined by one of IFSEC’s inspirational speakers, rock star physicist, Professor Brian Cox OBE. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with Brian over a light lunch and drinks, with representatives from NetVu also being on hand to discuss some of their latest technology. In particular, attendees will have the chance to talk about prominent topics such as cyber security and how connected products – like NetVu’s patented CCTV and FireVu products – are taking new measures to protect themselves against this growing crime.
Immediately following the networking lunch, the BSIA will be continuing the theme of cyber security at a special Cyber Security Services Launch event. The BSIA recognises the fact that cyber security is essential in today’s technological world, and has been taking steps to ensure the Association is fully equipped to guide its members on this issue. Such steps include the BSIA’s recent Cyber Security event in Scotland, held in partnership with the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, as well as the formation of the BSIA’s Cyber Security Product Assurance Group (CySPAG), which aims to provide education and guidance on best practice in cyber resilience to product manufacturers, installers and end users.
In light of the work the BSIA has already undertaken, Dave Wilkinson, Technical Director at the BSIA, will be launching the Association’s official cyber offering at the BSIA’s stand at 13:15 on Wednesday 21st June. The event will include the unveiling of the BSIA’s brand new cyber webpage, as well as announcing some exclusive member discounts on cyber security training and the Cyber Essentials certification scheme, recognised by H.M Government. Joining Dave will be Ian Kerr, from ID Cyber Solutions, who will deliver a presentation on the key elements of Cyber Essentials.
“The BSIA has been working on a number of initiatives to ensure the Association is abreast of the latest developments in cyber security and, through our “trusted partner” initiative, are best placed to provide practical advice and guidance to both BSIA members and the general public,” explains Dave Wilkinson. “IFSEC will be the perfect platform to showcase our official position on cyber, as well as announcing some trusted partner services and genuine discounts that will be extremely beneficial to our members.”
Alongside the exciting events taking place on the BSIA’s stand, the Association is also an official supporter of the Engineers of Tomorrow Competition, which sees young apprentices compete against each other in a live installation challenge. The competition takes place over the course of three days, with the young engineers competing in the Installer Zone from 10:00am every day.
