Figures just  released from the NEC, Birmingham proves the security industry is still in love with its cars and vans and remains the best location for a security channel event.

Over 15,000*cars and vans were parked at the NEC during the recent IFSEC International exhibition with a total of 22,000 motor vehicles parked across the 4 shows the NEC held during IFSEC week, which included a fire safety, facilities management and workplace safety event.

Sitting at the heart of the UK Motorway network and within a 3 hour drive time for 86% of all BSIA members, the NEC Birmingham welcomed on average over 5,500 vehicles per day. In comparison ExCeL in East London has capacity for 3,700* vehicles per day.

Furthermore, a survey conducted at IFSEC also concluded that 85% of visitors still want to attend a security event at the NEC, Birmingham and research carried out by the NEC in Autumn 2012 also showed the Birmingham venue is within a 3 hour drive for 81% of the UK installer community.

Organisers of the new Security Technology Live event have commented this is further evidence that the security industry requires a security event to be in a location and venue which is able to support the security channel’s preferred mode of transport – road.

Speaking about the statistics and Security Technology Live, Clarion Events MD Tim Porter said: “The NEC is so well connected it’s perfect for a visitor to arrive in good time with ample parking, spend a few hours looking at new products and technologies so they can increase margins and provide better customer service, and then back to a job, the office, or join colleagues elsewhere."

Porter added: “Security Technology Live has received an overwhelming positive response from the industry with many companies understanding the rationale for launching a dedicated security channel event at the NEC.”
