The facilities management specialist based in Buckinghamshire has maintained its commitment to hard-working young adults, presenting an award at the recent Milton Keynes College Student of the Year Awards 2019. Held at The Sculpture Gallery, Woburn Abbey, these annual awards showcase diversity and highlight the dedication, determination and enthusiasm of students from the local area.
Mark Walker, Group Chairman of Ashirdge Group, presented the Public Services award to Milton Keynes College student Asad Mir. Despite English being his second language, Asad has successfully studied a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services and has progressed significantly with his communication and writing skills. He was chosen for the accolade after regularly showing commitment to bettering himself and improving his ability, including attending an interactive day with South Central Ambulance Service to learn first aid skills. Alongside his studies, Asad has applied to become a Special Constable with Thames Valley Police and will be starting his Undergraduate Degree in Policing this September.
“Ashridge Group fully endorse Milton Keynes College’s diversity and values of inspiration, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect. This approach is in line with our own values of Diligence, Passion, Competence and Responsiveness” said Mark Walker. “We were delighted to present this award to Asad and show recognition for his determination to succeed.”
Ashridge Group has been partnering with Milton Keynes College for a number of years and currently employs two students as apprentices. Isaac Richmond was appointed in the Accounts department last year followed by Shanice Nabi in Business Administration. Both Isaac and Shanice were encouraged by Ashridge Group to join the Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (YAAN) and have been attending associated training classes at New Buckinghamshire University in High Wycombe. Nancy Oliver, who played a pivotal role in the appointments of both apprentices from Milton Keynes College, joined Ashridge Group three years ago on a work experience placement and has since had the opportunity to work her way up to the role of HR Manager.
Ashridge Group is currently working with the Buckinghamshire Skills Hub to support the promotion of apprenticeships across the county and enable young people to become more work ready. As the company continues to expand, it is looking to build on the value of its ‘people first’ ethos, which focuses on prioritising its own employees’ needs to deliver customer service excellence.
Based in Aylesbury, Ashridge Group provides services and consultancy to sectors as diverse as corporates, live entertainment venues, rail and critical national infrastructure. Championing a people-oriented approach to business development, the company also looks to develop partnerships with other suppliers in the county as part of its aim to support the growth of the local economy.
