Europe’s number one enterprise IT event, IP EXPO Europe has announced presenter, author and scientist, Professor Brian Cox OBE, as the opening keynote for this year’s event. Speaking on day 1, Professor Cox will be followed by esteemed AI expert Stuart Russell, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University California Berkeley, on day 2.
Arguably the UK’s best-known physicist, Cox is now Professor of Particle Physics at Manchester University and a key part of the ATLAS and CERN Large Hadron Collider projects. Whilst his books and TV programmes have been read and watched around the world, they have also been credited for making science engaging and accessible to millions. During IP EXPO Europe, happening on the 4-5 October, Cox will provide attendees with a physicists take on technology. Sharing details about his work with CERN, and their attempts to use cutting-edge technology and engineering to recreate events which happened fractions of a nanosecond after the Big Bang “in the hope of revealing the underlying simplicity of the universe.” Continuing the academic view on technology, esteemed AI expert Stuart Russell, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at University California Berkeley, will be opening day 2 of the conference. As a leading authority on AI, robotics and bioinformatics, Russell is the author and co-author of three books on knowledge, reasoning, and machine learning, including the standard textbook on artificial intelligence. During IP EXPO Europe he’ll be discussing AI, its long-term future, and its relation to humanity. “Technology and science have long been intertwined. Without science, we wouldn’t have modern technology, and without technology, many of the world’s biggest scientific studies wouldn’t be possible. Artificial Intelligence is a prime example of this, a huge part of its development is grounded in science, yet it’s also helping to make significant scientific breakthroughs,” comments Bradley Maule-ffinch, EMEA Portfolio Director at IP EXPO Europe. Maule-ffinch continues: “By looking at the intersection of these two fields we can better understand how technology is going to continue to evolve in the future. We’re delighted to be welcoming both Brian Cox and Stuart Russell to IP EXPO Europe 2017 to share more about their respective fields and how they are impacting the technology industry.”
