Vigilance can confirm that Reliance has been selected by Avon & Somerset Constabulary for the provision of forensic medical examiners and healthcare professionals.
Under this contract, Vigilance learnt Reliance will deliver forensic medical services provided by doctors and nurses in custody suites throughout the Avon & Somerset region, and nurse-led services at Bristol’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre for adult victims of sexual assault and child victims of abuse, assault, sexual assault and neglect. This three-year contract’s value is £1.8 million per annum with the possibility of two further one-year extensions.
It is said Reliance will provide Avon & Somerset Police a timely, comprehensive, safe, and cost-effective solution based on trained teams of directly employed healthcare professionals working to agreed protocols within a robust, audited clinical governance framework.
Geoff Vinall, CEO, Reliance said: “Many police forces have seen the costs of providing forensic examiner services to detainees escalate in recent years, yet it has also been increasingly difficult to secure a timely response from busy doctors. Reliance has a proven medical services solution that ensures police forces a rapid response to requests for treatments and assessments of both detainees and victims of sexual assault.”
Vinall further said: “Reliance secured this contract in a highly competitive bidding process and it forms a major step forward in Reliance’s service offerings to police forces. It is testament to police confidence in Reliance as a provider of service excellence and value for money.”
