Officers from Trident, who investigate gun crime in the capital, yesterday (3 February 2011) arrested a man and two women linked with the murder of Jordan Jackson and Leyla Djemal-Northcott in 2006.
Vigilance learnt that following new information, the police used a specialist diving team to search the Regent's Canal, as the murder weapon might have been thrown into the canal. Despite not finding the weapon, it is learnt more information has been gained, enabling them to make yesterday's arrests.

Enquiries continue:
Jordan Lee Jackson, 20, and Leyla Djemal-Northcott, 21, were both murdered in a flat in Menlo Gardens, SE19 on 7 March 2006. Masked men had entered the flat at approx 06:40hrs that morning, before firing at least six shots, killing Jordan and Leyla and injuring Jordan's brother.
The men ran away from the scene and, although some arrests were made at the time, detectives are still to solve the murder.
Police believe that Leyla was an innocent bystander and was murdered, whilst she lay in bed, purely because she was in the flat with Jordan. Jordan and his brother may have been targeted by the men. Keiran Jordon was shot but has recovered from his injuries. Police believe he was lucky to survive the ordeal.
The MPS is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murders of Jordan and Leyla and the attempted murder of Kieran Jackson.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hutchison, from Trident was full of appreciation: "We want to thank those who have come forward with information so far. Although we are still seeking the murder weapon, due to the media coverage of the river search we had several calls with information relating to these murders.
DC Hutchison pleaded with members of the public: “I continue to urge the public to come forward so that we can take this forward and solve this murder."
