With Addition of Windows Phone 8, Accellion Addresses BYOD Needs Across Top Three Mobile Platforms

Palo Alto, CA: Accellion, Inc., the pioneer in providing enterprise-class secure mobile productivity solutions has announced the availability of the Accellion mobile app for Windows Phone 8, starting with a private beta program. Accellion now enables secure mobile file sharing and collaboration for users of Windows Phone 8, along with Android and iOS devices, helping IT departments keep their organizational data secure in the BYOD era.

The Windows Phone operating system had the largest growth of any mobile phone platforms between April and June of 2013, with global shipments rising 78 percent, according to IDC. This increased use of Windows mobile devices is being experienced within enterprise organizations, and IT departments need secure solutions for users to share files, collaborate, and access enterprise content management stores such as SharePoint and Windows File Shares.

“We see time and again that without an enterprise solution, users turn to free, unsecure public cloud productivity apps without regard for the data security risks associated with many of them. To help IT departments mitigate this risk, BYOD policy support for all major devices is necessary,” said Rama Kolappan, director of mobile product marketing at Accellion. “We see the recent increase in market share for Windows Phone 8 reflected in our customer base. With this launch, Accellion extends mobile productivity support to IT departments and users everywhere.”
