May it not be told to posterity that politics dried up mankind’s milk of human kindness when the nation of Pakistan and not Mr 10% was in sorrow. May it not be said that because Mr David Cameron lashed out at Pakistan as “terror exporting” country, the whole wide world developed cold feet when it was time to act.
We are frustrated and flabbergasted that the world could pass Pakistan by while writhing with pains of the floods on her Jericho Road. Let our S.O.S trumpet sound, sounds in the ears of anyone, country, institutions and organizations using the latter reason for their crass insensitivity and stinginess.
We can’t understand why in a world of superabundance any member of the human community should go hungry; go to sleep without food, how much more a moment of unspeakable untowardness as the nation of Pakistan currently finds itself. Who is the world annoyed with, Pakistan or Asif Zardari or the hapless victims of the flood? It is foolishness to use a moment of bereavement to punish a country, a people or their leaders for their failings or to remind them that while other members of the international community were contributing to the global peace fund and harmony of persons in all realms and climes of our planet, Pakistan was on the other hand encouraging its demolition squad to cause the world maximum destruction, pain and sorrow.
This certainly is not the time for the world to say to Pakistan, “Serves you right, for lo your time of reckoning is now here.” This is not the time to indulge in a blame game, trading accusations, pointing accusing fingers at what Pakistan politicians are doing or not doing; this is not the time for any person with compassion to chide the Pakistani leadership for being slow to act. Pakistan is in pain, Pakistan is in sorrow! And the cries of the hapless Pakistanis are reverberating throughout the globe and the world must be swift to act, and act now it must!
This is Pakistan’s moment of exigency, so the world must act fast, and act fast together it must with a lightning speed.
We speak to the conscience of humanity on behalf of the nation of Pakistan; we speak to the heart, spirit, soul and body of the mass of humanity; we speak to the compassionate spirit of the world, yes, we speak; we speak today to stir up the spirit of human brotherhood and universal altruism.
Yes, let our voice today, let our voice today echo and reverberate across the Atlantic, on the mountains, over the hills and valleys to wake world leaders up from their slumber. Yes, let our voice today on behalf of the nation of Pakistan become the shrill cry of the cicada in a mid day sun to crack the ears of the sleeping and apathetic humanity. Yes, let our voice, let our voice today reach out to men, to women, to boys, to girls on the streets of the world’s cities, from London to New York, let our voice reach out; from Abuja to Johannesburg; let our voice reach out; from Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, let our voice reach out; from Hong Kong to Tokyo, let our voice reach out; from Bonn to Riyadh, let our voice reach out; from Tel Aviv to Moscow, let our voice reach out. Yes, let our voice go round the world and ring loud in the ears of insensate humanity that Pakistan is drowning and needs help.
To all our fellow citizens of the world, in the remotest villages and in all realms and climes, to the youngsters, to the young, to the adults in and around the world, let our voice ring in the ears of all and let it give them sleepless nights until we all as one, in the spirit of universal brotherhood give succour to Pakistan in her hour of need, for we all belong to the broad family of the world whether you are from the North or the South, East or West of our hemisphere.
Therefore, file out from the North to give to Pakistan, from the South, file out, file out from the East to give to Pakistan, from the West, let us file out to give our widow’s mite, singing:
Let there be love shared among us,
Let there be love in our eyes,
May now Your love sweep this nation,
Cause us O Lord to arise.
Give us a fresh understanding
Of brotherly love that is real,
Let there be love shared among us,
Let there be love ,let there be love shared.
And if we do not file out to give from our various little corners of the globe, diseases will take over, hunger will wipe out millions, millions yet will be rendered homeless and the enemies will step forward to give to shame the world.
O Pakistan, why have all these befallen you... from the “exporting terror” charge of David to the plane crash, plane crash to flooding, flooding to Cricketgate?
