SONG OF NIGERIA: NIGERIA WILL RULE THE WORLD Fellow country men and women at home and in the Diaspora, as Nigeria turns 52 today, I invite you all to join us in thanking God that despite the wobbling steps, the many fault lines in the wall of the House of Nigeria, the now regular tremors and earthquakes that continue to threaten her very foundation, it has pleased the God of the Heavens and of the Earth to add one more year to this ever rancorous and shaky-shaky House that has lost her soul and place in the comity of nations, yet rather than mourning on this occasion of her 52^nd Anniversary, we should like us to sing the Song of Nigeria; for it is strength to sing in adversity and through it.

The Arab Spring Manna

The uprisings of the last two years in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and Syria broke out spontaneously without a prior ideological compass that might have helped the people of the region see the way ahead once the governments of those countries had been overthrown. This ideological void led to the creation of a political void after the collapse of those regimes, and the principal beneficiaries of this new development have been the Islamists as well as ex-members of the deposed regimes. Now we see the Islamists enjoying substantial political clout in Tunisia and Egypt and a remarkable degree of influence on post-Qaddafi politics in Libya. The question that now poses itself is: Given this new reality, can the world henceforth coexist peacefully and productively with the Islamists?

Barbed wire, grease, electric fences, water hoses, spot lights or safety personnel (often with of five or six figure sums of investment) are the current ways of fighting pirates. Not only the cost or the efficiency of these measures leaves a lot to be desired, but also the success rate is a long way from what is required. The trade routes are still today insecure and the number of pirate attacks is continuously increasing. Help could now be on the horizon with a new world-wide unique hydraulically operated mechanical Anti Ship Entry System known as (ASES).
