Co-founder Dominique Karg predicts which battles we’ll face in 2013... Get ready for invited break-ins, malware-ridden apps and spoof attacks in 2013

It’s that time of year again when, it seems, every technology vendor suddenly becomes clairvoyant with an insatiable urge to predict the battles we need to arm ourselves against. The cynic in me would suggest that the primary function for imparting these pearls of wisdom is to sow a seed that grows into sales for a particular technology. With that in mind, here are my top predictions for the coming months.

A new satellite which will provide secure military communications for UK Armed Forces has been successfully launched into space, Vigilance can report..

The extra lines of communication will benefit personnel deployed in Afghanistan and other parts of the world, including the Falklands, Cyprus and on ships at sea.

UK: There has been an unprecedented volume of malicious code and attacks - including many high profile incidents - in the Middle East during 2012. Attacks ranged from those performed by cyber criminals to hacktivists and in some cases reportedly nation-state actors. The Middle East also saw an increase in the amount of spam that was sent containing malicious code, believed to be due to a widespread bot network in the region.
