Dundee United appoints SecuriGroup as new matchday steward security provider

Vigilance can report that Dundee United has appointed SecuriGroup as their new matchday steward security provider, in time for the 2013-2014 season.

A spokesman for the company said SecuriGroup had long-established ties with the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League, having provided security to the professional game in Scotland for almost a decade, most of which he said had been in the top flight.

Company is Developing Handheld Explosive and Chemical Detectors for U.S. Safety and Security Community

Boston, MA: 908 Devices, an innovator in field-portable chemical analysis has entered into a strategic partnership with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. The investment will contribute to 908 Devices’ efforts to build rugged, handheld mass spectrometry tools that can perform hazardous chemical detection and analysis. The technology is being developed, in part, with funding from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, an IQT customer agency.

UK Government’s drive to reduce cyclist deaths on Britain’s roads receives boosts

Cyclist deaths are becoming such a big issue in Britain that the Government is attempting to cut it off at the source.

Two of the UK’s biggest driving schools, AA Driving School and BSM, will now include a new section on bike awareness and driving safely around cyclists, developed with input from the cycling community.

Instructors will take a new module, backed by the Driving Standards Agency and the Department for Transport, to teach to new drivers.

Armed Forces Covenant throws door open for business

Vigilance can report that the Armed Forces Covenant last week opened for business as companies and charities across the country were invited to sign up to the brand new Corporate Covenant to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces, the Defence Minister Mark Francois has announced.
