Joomla hacks

"I think that there is a bigger picture to look at here. The Joomla CMS is just another example of a 3rd party application being vulnerable due to lack of security ownership.

We have been looking deeply into CMS systems such as WordPress, Joomla and others lately. There is a clear appetite for hackers to look into vulnerabilities in CMS software, and more important – custom plug-ins. There have already been several studies showing both the consumer growth of the CMS deployment, but also the vulnerable stage of it. This extends to more than just CMS systems, but to every piece a of 3rd party application that one might implement in their organization. And while bringing the organization forward in technology, all of a sudden you lack patch control. You have to rely on the vendor to execute security best practices. Unfortunately we live in a world where security is yet to be something you outsource completely.

UN, EU and United Kingdom blast military junta for Black Wednesday in Egypt

It’s what might be regarded as Egypt’s sorrow, hence the world was unanimous in its condemnation of the orgiastic killings in that country yesterday, Wednesday, August 14th, 2013, which according to Egyptian Authorities left about 460 dead. But the Brotherhoods disputed the Interim Government’s statistics, claiming the number of deaths was more-above 2000.

Violence in the land of the Pharaohs: Egyptians inside and outside of the government need to take a step back

The United States strongly condemns Wednesday’s violence and bloodshed across Egypt. It’s a serious blow to reconciliation and the Egyptian people’s hopes for a transition towards democracy and inclusion. In the past week, at every occasion, perhaps even more than the past week, we and others have urged the government to respect the rights of free assembly and of free expression, and we have also urged all parties to resolve this impasse peacefully and underscored that demonstrators should avoid violence and incitement.
