BSI, the business standards company, has become one of the first certification bodies to receive the official UK accreditation status from The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for the new Environmental Management Systems Standard, ISO 14001:2015 and the new Quality Management Systems Standard, ISO 9001:2015. This adds to BSI’s previous accreditation status from DAkkS in Germany and global accreditation from ANAB.
On Saturday, Vodafone UK said hackers had accessed the accounts of around 2,000 of its customers, the second cyber attack on a British telecoms company this month. The attackers had potentially gained access to the victims' bank sort codes and the last four numbers of their bank accounts, along with their names and mobile telephone numbers, a Vodafone spokesman said. Only a handful of those affected in the attack had seen any attempts to use their data for fraudulent activity on their Vodafone accounts. "No credit or debit card numbers or details were obtained. However, this information does leave these 1,827 customers open to fraud and might also leave them open to phishing attempts," a spokesman said. The company was contacting all those involved and that other customers need not be concerned, he said.

Security researchers from Botfrei have published findings of a new version of the Chimera Ransomware that is currently targeting German SMBs. According to their report, and in a twist to previous ransomware campaigns, Chimera warns those unlucky to encrypt their files that, if they don't pay, their data will be published online. Troy Gill, Manager of Security Research at AppRiver, is sceptical that the malware authors would be able to deliver on this promise.
