·       UK and Ukraine sign new arrangement on defence and industrial cooperation 

·       Signing came during UK’s largest ever trade mission to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion, with 29 UK defence businesses in Kyiv to meet Ukrainian businesses

·       Trade Minister Greg Hands also in Kyiv to sign the arrangement, co-chair Infrastructure Taskforce and attend trade mission 

 The UK and Ukraine have signed a new defence agreement to encourage cooperation on defence and industrial issues.  

 The signing, which took place in Kyiv, came during UK’s largest ever trade mission to Ukraine, with a delegation of 29 UK businesses travelling to the country to speak about their expertise and find opportunities for cooperation.

Another ‘Groundhog Day’ with yet another national pro-Palestinian protest in Central London accompanied by another huge policing operation which involved officers from across the country. The march was originally due to set off from near the BBC in Portland Place, however, as this would have impacted retailers in Oxford and Regent Street. The organisers agreed to a rendezvous point of Russell Square and a less disruptive route which would take them down Kingsway and via Aldwych, along the Strand to their rally at Trafalgar Square.

New research from cybersecurity provider Homesecurity surveying over 500 C-suite leaders across the UK, uncovers a critical – and alarming – gap in the nation's cybersecurity defences. 

The research found: 

  • 45% of UK businesses have been victims of cyberattacks

  •  Despite this, 26% are yet to harness AI in fortifying their defences

  • 58% are concerned about AI-assisted phishing attacks

  • Respondents are torn on AI, with 40% seeing it as a potential solution and a further 40% a threat

  •  Just 19% feel adequately prepared for a zero-day attack 

  • An alarming 11% are not at all ready for a zero-day attack 

  • New survey from cybersecurity provider Hornetsecurity reveals that half (45%) of UK businesses have been victims of a cyberattack

  • 3 in 5 businesses are most concerned about AI-assisted phishing 

  • 1 in 10 describe themselves as ‘not ready at all’ for a zero-day cyberattack

    LONDON, UK – 10th April 2024 – New research by Hornetsecurity highlights the AI cybersecurity gap affecting UK businesses: although nearly half (45%) of companies have fallen victim to cyberattacks, 26% are still not using AI to enhance their cybersecurity defences.
