EU citizens and intellectual property: awareness, perception and behaviour

Today, on 23 March, the President of the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), António Campinos, will present the results of a pan-European survey of citizens’ opinions related to Intellectual property (patents, trademarks, designs and copyright) and its infringements at the European Parliament. This survey was an update to the 2013 report into IP attitudes and holds information relevant for consumer groups, general industry, and growing technology sector. Expert Comments: Massive Joblink breach...job seekers' info breached - 10 states

The third party vendor, America’s Joblink Alliance, which operates the Joblink nationwide database has notified several states that the job seeker service had been compromised by malicious software. The personal information of job seekers in ten states including Vermont, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine and Oklahoma may be compromised. While the full scope of the breach is not yet known, the AP says it's unknown whether social security numbers were breached, and that officials advise all system users to review bank, credit and debit accounts.

Research assesses the skills gap in information security

LONDON, UK: FireMon has announced results from a survey conducted at the recent RSA Conference that gauged the attitudes of 350 IT security professionals towards the skills shortage in cybersecurity. It found that a remarkably high 93% of respondents place more importance on experience rather than qualifications when it comes to hiring. A further 73% claimed that it didn’t matter whether IT staff were college graduates when it came to getting the job done.
