New funding and regulatory innovation aim to fast-track AI adoption while maintaining safety standards

London: Technology Secretary Peter Kyle is set to announce a £2.7 million government fund to support UK regulators in piloting AI systems to keep Britain at pace in the global race for tech leadership.

Kyle emphasised that the move is not about lowering safety standards but applying “smart regulation” to accelerate approvals and help British innovators compete globally. The funding will support agencies such as Ofgem, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Office for Nuclear Regulation in projects ranging from AI-assisted accident report analysis to unified regulatory guidance platforms and nuclear waste management pilots.

That was mainly why they preferred to bend over backwards to please Hitler’s Germany. They failed. The combination of British and French appeasement, coupled with American indifference, as well as Soviet collaboration, convinced Hitler to initiate the invasion of European countries.

A wave of private equity-driven consolidation is sweeping across the UK’s managed IT services sector. While these deals are often marketed as a route to improved scale and efficiency, the reality for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is frequently quite different, with medium and small-sized businesses sharing only 10% revenue in comparison to the 74% share of larger firms. This high market concentration limits SMEs as they often lack the leverage, resources, or visibility to compete effectively.

Royal Navy flagship HMS Prince of Wales has arrived in Tokyo for a historic visit to deepen bonds between Japan and the UK.

The ship leads the UK Carrier Strike Group into Japan’s capital for a major port stop which will include hosting dignitaries, politicians and defence seniors, and opening to the public for tours before hosting an international summit, the Pacific Future Forum.

Prince of Wales arrived in Tokyo to much fanfare, with sailors lining the flight deck and people waving them in from bridges and viewpoints.

“After a brief but busy period of planned maintenance in Yokosuka, it’s a huge privilege to bring the Royal Navy fleet flagship into the centre of Tokyo,” said Captain Will Blackett, Commanding Officer of HMS Prince of Wales.
