ConnectWise Names Regina Marrow as New Chief Information Officer

Marrow to implement IT-enabled business initiatives as ConnectWise continues to grow

ConnectWise, the leading provider of business automation software for technology solution providers (TSPs), has announced the appointment of Regina Marrow as chief information officer (CIO). In her new role, Marrow will oversee the company’s global business and financial systems teams and initiatives to deliver modern platforms to support and enable company growth and to improve the partner experience.

Prior to ConnectWise, Marrow held technology and transformation executive roles at companies such as Ernst & Young, LLP and Gerdau. During her time at Ernst & Young she led a number of client-driven technology initiatives, including leading a team of more than 300 people to develop and deliver client technology and support needs as a result of the global pandemic. As Executive Director of Information Technology for Gerdau, she oversaw the North America region. She also served in other senior IT leadership roles at Gerdau, and was a process consultant for Accenture.

Lessons Security Pros Can Learn From Three Famous Behaviour Experiments

We often hear that cybersecurity is all about people, process, and technology. Focussing on the people aspect, one could make the argument that behaviour plays a big role. So, as security professionals, it’s worth spending a bit of time trying to understand human behaviour better.

Luckily human behaviour has been researched quite thoroughly over the years. Here are a few “classic” experiments we can learn a thing or two from.

The Little Albert Experiment, 1920

In this experiment a nine month old child was given a white furry objects to play with. At first the child displayed affection and joy. Over time, as the child played with the objects, the Drs would make loud noises to frighten the child. After numerous trials the child was conditioned to be afraid of furry white objects.

The study explained why people have irrational fears and how they may have developed in early life.

94% of organisations have suffered insider data breaches, Egress research reveals

Human error is the top cause of serious breaches but malicious attacks are IT leaders’ biggest concern.

London, UK: Egress’ Insider Data Breach Survey 2021 has revealed that an overwhelming 94% of organisations have experienced insider data breaches in the last year. Human error was the top cause of serious incidents, according to 84% of IT leaders surveyed. However, IT leaders are more concerned about malicious insiders, with 28% indicating that intentionally malicious behaviour is their biggest fear. Despite causing the most incidents, human error came bottom of the list, with just over one-fifth (21%) saying that it’s their biggest concern.
