Venafi: Key Management offers best protection against government espionage

Recently published research by McAfee, which shows a shocking, multi-year attack campaign against more than 70 governmental organizations in the US and other Western nations, highlights the security problems faced by public sector agencies, says Venafi, a provider of industry-leading Enterprise Key and Certificate Management (EKCM) solutions. Security experts believe this may be the largest coordinated attack ever launched. The involved hackers have over the past, several years worked successfully to infiltrate the computer networks of thousands of companies, organizations and governments, stealing reams of intellectual property, military information and state secrets.

Boomerang is troops' saviour!

It is said hundreds of the Boomerang systems have been bought under a £20m contract with Essex-based company Maxord Ballistics Limited (MBL), which is the UK distributor for Raytheon BBN Technologies who make the system.

According to the MoD a state-of-the-art new shot detection system called Boomerang III is protecting Troops in Afghanistan against small arms fire.

Research study uncovers an epidemic of security worst practices

64% of organisations fails to encrypt data in the Cloud

Venafi, the inventor of and market leader in Enterprise Key and Certificate Management (EKCM) solutions, in conjunction with Echelon One, an IT security research leader specialising in security programs and guidance, yesterday released the 2011 IT Security Best Practices Assessment. Echelon One led the effort to establish a set of 12 best practices and worked closely with Venafi to evaluate how well 420 enterprises and government agencies implemented them. The assessment reveals an epidemic of security worst practices, where a majority of organisations fail to adhere to simple data protection standards and, in many cases, are fully unaware of what security practices are currently in place.
