Vigilance writes Obama, Ki-moon, US law makers...pushes for the adoption of 9/11 as World Safety and Security Day (WSSD)

Concerned by the growing threats to global security and fear of another attack of immense proportion in and around the world, the publisher of Vigilance-The Security Magazine and British Chevening Scholar, John Odey Aduma has written to world leaders including President Barack Obama of the United States of America, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, US Congress and US House of Representatives urging them to put appropriate machinery in place to adopt September the 11^th of each year as World Safety and Security Day (WSSD).

Global Repository of assurance maturity scores launched

Deadline for organisations to sign up to participate is 30th September 2011

Following the publication of the report on ‘Business Assurance for the 21st Century’ by a consortium of leading information security organisations, the Steering Group for this global collaborative project are providing the opportunity for other organisations and associations to participate in the development of a design and implementation plan for the creation of a global repository of assurance maturity scores. The plan would include the governance of a global repository and implementation activities.

The Netherlands warns all citizens to avoid online services until further notice!

Last week it was found that DigiNotar, a Dutch Certificate Authority (CA), had issued a rogue SSL certificate for “*.google.com”. Hackers apparently used the fraudulent certificate to intercept Iranian users’ email, among other items. The attack went undetected by the users because their browsers trusted the DigiNotar certificate. A third-party trust provider represents an extremely high value target for hackers. Once an attacker can access and steal trust credentials, they can commit various cyber-criminal acts in pursuit of their own nefarious agenda.
