London, UK: As part of its new corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, ISACA, a global association serving 115,000 information systems assurance, security and governance professionals, has donated US $20,000 to support UNESCO’s Building Knowledge Societies program. UNESCO works globally to create inclusive knowledge societies that increase access to and sharing of information and knowledge. This aligns with ISACA’s mission of helping professionals and their enterprises achieve trust in, and value from, their information and information systems.
Created in 1945, UNESCO promotes openness in content, technology and processes that allows researchers and innovators to more easily share and use data, and provide students and educators around the world with unprecedented access to knowledge and information. UNESCO supports the preservation of documentary heritage by strengthening existing preservation frameworks, and emphasizes long-term preservation of digitized and digitally-born information.
“UNESCO is grateful to ISACA for its support,” said Indrajit Banerjee, director of the Knowledge Societies Division of UNESCO. “ISACA’s contribution to UNESCO will be utilized to further its Building Knowledge Societies Program, and particularly for its activities on Open Solutions, which enable information and knowledge to be openly shared providing strategic cross-cutting opportunities to improve the quality of decision-making, and to facilitate policy dialogue, knowledge sharing as well as capacity building.”
“ISACA’s support of UNESCO through our CSR program directly reflects what ISACA constituents work toward every day—effective management and use of information that is trustworthy and meaningful,” said Daryl Pereira, CISA, CRISC, CPA, chair of the working group overseeing ISACA’s CSR program and director for KPMG. “We look forward to seeing the growth and impact of UNESCO’s Building Knowledge Societies program and are proud to be an advocate of it.
