I have recently joined Behaviosec , a company that is providing a new generation of IT-security solutions known as Behaviometrics, and thought you might find this interesting.
Behaviometrics uses the individual as its core asset; an asset that is extremely hard to replicate, and which makes it the ultimate solution against identity theft.
Any unauthorized user that could previously access a computer or a mobile device with confidential information either by hacking the password, logging in with stolen credentials, or accessing a logged on computer can now be stopped and the intrusion is prevented while it is happening.
How it works
Each person has a unique pattern in how they interact with a computer’s main components its keyboard, mouse and graphical user interface. The study of the user’s unique handling of these actions is known as Behaviometrics. A human behavioral pattern consists of a variety of different unique “semi-behaviours”; all mixed together into a larger an utterly more unique profile. Since every person’s unique Behaviometric pattern is formed not only by biometric features, like the way you move your hand, but is also influenced by more social and psychological means, like if you are native in the language you write, it is just about impossible to copy or imitate somebody else’s behaviour in front of the computer. The behaviour of the person typing away on the computer is compared to the stored Behaviometric pattern. Similarities resembling the logged in user are recognized and the software calculates the possibility of it being the correct user.
A Mobile World
Similar to how we use PCs, our use of mobile devices also carries a “signature”, and since mobile devices are not necessarily designed with security in mind, mobile devices are much more vulnerable when ending up in the wrong hands.
Each person has his or her own unique behaviour when interacting with a mobile device’s keyboard and user interface. Without affecting the normal workflow, BehavioMobile Security verifies that it is the correct person handling the phone by monitoring the user’s Behaviometrics. BehavioMobile Security collects behavioural statistics of the normal usage pattern (for example, while entering or swiping a PIN-code) and compares this with previous usage to decide if the user is authentic
What are the Main Benefits of Behaviometrics
Behaviosec continually analyses characteristics of the human behaviour for verification purposes, not just at logon but during a session. By analysing how the user works with the keyboard (i.e., typing rhythm), mouse movements (i.e., acceleration time, click frequencies) and graphical interface interaction (using programs) it is possible to recognize and confirm the identity of a person.
Today millions of users and service providers benefit from the use of Behaviosec, and in the financial world, hundreds of millions of financial transactions are secured this technology, so if you are interested in more information, or would even like to try it yourself, get in touch oRe: Latest thought leadership article by Anders Lofgren, 'Embracing Secure BYOD'
