Checkpoint Systems has announced the launch of Bug Tag 2 – an innovative loss prevention solution that enables stores to increase sales through enhanced product protection.
The versatile EAS hard tag is designed to protect a wide range of merchandise, specifically high theft items such as tablets and display products. Bug Tag 2 is a highly effective solution that is easy to apply and quick to remove. Its low profile makes it the ideal solution for mobile devices and other highly valuable merchandise.
Featuring a compact, reusable module and disposable adhesive sled, Bug Tag 2 includes Checkpoint’s 3 Alarm Technology. This provides retailers with three levels of protection – in store, at the point of exit and outside the store. The solution, which includes a flashing LED to demonstrate that it is live, also provides an essential visual theft deterrent. This can be combined with a unique snare connector, which enables retailers to loop into merchandise with a 60” cable. This makes it particularly well-suited to protecting premium products that are out on display.
The Bug Tag 2’s disposable transparent sled is available in two formats that make it suitable for application to packaged goods or products themselves. It attaches easily to a product with adhesive, giving retailers the security they need, while maintaining the aesthetics of the packaging once the alarm has been removed. The sled can also be applied at the point of manufacturer or along the supply chain ahead of arriving in store, reducing time staff spend tagging items internally and enabling retailers to maintain consistency in accordance to a manufacturers package design. Reusable, replacement adhesives are also supplied.
The alarming module attaches to the invisible sled with a twist making it easy for staff to apply and remove. The smooth, rounded device fits flush to the merchandise which increases the difficulty for thieves to pry off.
Neville Payne, VP of Merchandise Availability Solution at Checkpoint Systems UK, commented: “The Bug Tag 2 provides both security and flexibility, and it will help retailers reduce shrinkage and operational efficiency, while increasing sales through improved merchandise availability. We’ve also developed this solution to be as easy to apply and remove as possible as we recognise the importance of having staff on the shop floor selling, rather than spending valuable time attaching hard tags.”
