Fundraisers from all over the country are getting ready for Blesma Week – the fundraising initiative that raises money for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, a charity that supports injured service personnel.
Starting on Monday 06 June, Blesma Week looks to encourage people to get involved with fundraising for Blesma either by running their own event, or by joining one already organised by the charity.
Blesma are also running their own events that people can sign up to, including the climbing Ben Nevis or bungee-jumping from the O2 Arena in London. Fundraisers can also hold their own Patron’s Lunch for the Queen’s 90th birthday, a cake sale, a BBQ, or sell Grand Prize Draw Tickets (first prize is £1,000).
Amongst the local events already organised are a curry night in Market Drayton (Shropshire), a fancy dress disco in St. Austell (Cornwall) and a 24-hr hand-bikeathon in Fareham (Hampshire).
Zanika Fearon, Blesma’s Community & Events Fundraising Manager, says: “We are looking for as many people as possible to help us raise awareness and money for injured veterans. Without fundraising events we wouldn’t be able to carry on with the vital work we do. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up!”
