LOS GATOS, CA: Spikes Security has announced the availability of the industry's first-ever research that documents the increasing role of isolation technology as a defense against Web-based malware.
The Osterman Research report was conducted with security professionals from nearly 150 organizations across the US, to determine their perceptions and plans to implement isolation technology. The mean number of employees at each organization was more than 16,000 and survey respondents came from a wide variety of industries. Decision makers had to have authority in making or influencing the type of security technologies used by their respective organizations in order to participate in the survey.
"Web browsers are strategically vital tools for information workers to access productivity applications, work files, social media and a host of business-critical tools," said Michael Osterman, Principal Analyst, Osterman Research. "Our study shows that for 60 percent of all organizations, Web browsers are critical for business operations. For one business out of ten browsers are the most important application used."
"Unfortunately, web browsers have become a primary attack vector for the delivery of malware that can infect endpoint devices and gain access to internal network resources," explained Franklyn Jones, CMO at Spikes Security. "This malware is becoming increasingly undetectable using traditional security technologies. However, isolation technology is an innovative solution that eliminates this attack vector by ensuring that all original Web content never has direct access to secure endpoint devices."
The Isla Malware Isolation System from Spikes Security has been proven to eliminate the problem of browser-borne malware. This is accomplished by first processing all Web content on secure appliances deployed outside the network, then instantly, continuously transforming all Web content -- audio, video, text, and graphics -- into a benign, malware-free format and delivering it to endpoint devices inside the secure network. Businesses concerned about protecting their intellectual assets from browser-borne malware attacks are integrating the Isla solution into their existing security architectures.
In addition to the new report, Osterman Research and Spikes Security have produced an on-demand webinar that presents key findings and analysis of the web malware problem, and the emerging role of isolation technology as a solution.
