Commenting on the latest phishing scam aimed at LinkedIn users Steve Smith, MD of data security firm Pentura said:
“LinkedIn users need to be extremely cautious and should not click on links in emails which appear to come from LinkedIn advising them that their account has been blocked due to inactivity, no matter how authentic the email seems to be. LinkedIn is obviously a rich source of personal information which can be exploited for further social engineering attacks, which could prove costly both to the individuals and the organisations concerned. Phishing emails continue to be the most common source for social engineering attacks and this further highlights why being vigilant against such hacks is of critical importance.”
