Clavister has announced a reseller agreement with Artesyn Embedded Technologies, a global leader in embedded computing solutions for the communications, telecom, broadcast, military, aerospace and industrial automation sectors. Artesyn will offer Clavister’s industry-leading products and solutions to its key markets and customers. Clavister’s virtualized security software will be integrated onto Artesyn’s computing hardware, realising secure platforms of unprecedented performance and capacity. The relationship will also see the two companies collaborating to conduct joint research into securing next-generation IT and communications infrastructures.
The collaboration follows a longer period of joint development of solutions for the telecoms industry, specifically securing LTE/4G mobile networks. Using Artesyn’s hardware acceleration and load balancing technologies and Clavister’s next-generation, highly scalable multi-core data-plane technology, the partners have achieved a throughput of 1 Tbps of firewalling and 400Gbps of IPsec VPN throughput on a bladed server platform. Clavister and Artesyn anticipate strong, mutual growth from the collaboration.
According to analyst IDC, the market for intelligent embedded systems (processors, connectivity, and operating systems in devices other than PCs, phones, servers, and tablets) will grow from 1.4 billion units and $755 billion in revenue in 2014 to over 2.2 billion units and over $1 trillion in revenue by 2019*. The forecast covers segments such as energy, the industrial sector, healthcare, smart buildings and transportation, and there is strong demand for security to protects these embedded systems and devices and the data they process.
Jim Carlsson, CEO of Clavister added: “The collaboration with Artesyn will enable us to combine our respective strengths and expertise to deliver advanced, high-performance solutions to some of the world’s leading IT and infrastructure companies, and will help us to quickly increase our presence in a wide range of high-growth industry sectors. By building security into embedded computing solutions, companies can protect their infrastructure and data against attack and interception, without compromising performance. This agreement with Artesyn will also help to uncover further opportunities for Clavister in the telecoms sector, following previously signed agreements within the telecom market.”
Stephen Dow, president of Artesyn Embedded Technologies said: “Network security is a growing concern for many of our customers, so we are pleased to be joining forces with one of the upcoming global leaders in the field. We are continuing to invest in our DPI capabilities to fuel security, network analytics and bandwidth optimization markets. This is part of our broader NFV strategy to provide the hardware and software that allows our customers to deploy agile VNFs from edge to core. By collaborating with Clavister, we will be able to offer our customers advanced security solutions, helping to protect against new and emerging threats.”
Artesyn has already established a substantial pipeline of prospects and business cases for security solutions co-developed with Clavister, and is aiming to gain significant market share within specific industries.
Both Clavister and Artesyn are members of Intel’s Network Builders programme, a cross-industry initiative that enables telcos to build and manage business-critical infrastructures with lower capital and operating costs.
