Southampton-based training provider Solent Medical Skills has received high praise from awarding organisation Qualsafe Awards at its latest quality inspection.
Martin Wyness, Managing Director of the family-owned business, is delighted at a report which described trainer knowledge as ‘exceptional’ and the centre’s quality improvement processes as ‘exemplary.’
Based at Ocean Quay in Northam, Solent Medical Skills is a leading provider of the game changing First Response Emergency Care (FREC®) suite of pre-hospital and hostile environment medical training qualifications, recognised by the security industry lead body, the SIA. The company also provides a full range of First Aid training programmes for individuals and businesses as well as medic support for festivals, sporting fixtures and community events.

So its training provision is subject to Qualsafe Awards’ rigorous quality assurance regime. The inspection process is thorough and demanding so it is a real achievement that the company has received high praise in its latest External Quality Assurance visit, conducted by Qualsafe Awards’ Head of Quality Assurance, Jim Baines. He observed a FREC® Level 4 programme in progress as well as inspecting the centre’s facilities, systems and processes.
In the report, Qualsafe Awards stated: ‘It was a pleasure to work with a Centre which demonstrates passion, enthusiasm and professionalism in all aspects of delivering regulated qualifications.’
Qualsafe made particular comment on the company’s ‘passion for ensuring current and accepted practice is followed’ and ‘exceptional’ trainer knowledge. Jim also praised the ‘well-resourced’ Southampton training facility and described internal quality assurance processes as ‘rigorous and robust’.
Martin says ‘Since founding the company, it has been of vital importance to me that we maintain a total focus on quality.
