The world’s best FootGolfers will arrive in Marrakesh, Morocco this week to take part in the TOYOTA sponsored FIFG FootGolf 2018 World Cup Finals. Over 500 players from 33 nations will compete for both the World Cup team trophy and the individual men’s, women’s and seniors 2018 FootGolf trophies.
The current World Cup holders ‘Team USA’ will be looking to retain their title, as will Argentine Christian Otero the current individual World Cup Champion.
Women’s world number one Sophie Brown from the UK is favourite to claim the ladies title this year as FootGolf sees women's and seniors trophies presented for the first time.
The last FootGolf World Cup took place in Argentina back in 2016 where the home nation was narrowly beaten by Team USA. World number 2 and 2018 Champion of Europe Nicolas Garcia played in that Argentine beaten team. This year Garcia believes it will be Argentina against France in the final. “I think that the favourites in my opinion will be France and Argentina they are my two candidates but there are big teams like United Kingdom, Slovakia and Switzerland, Italy, Spain and the USA but i think it is between France and Argentina in my opinion.”
A host of former professional footballers will attend this year's FootGolf World Cup, including Roberto Fabian AYALA (Argentina), Pierre VAN HOOIJDONK (Netherlands), Camel MERIEM (France), Ludovic OBRANIAK (Rest of the World), Robert VITTEK and Jan KOAZK (Slovakia), Noureddine NAYBET and Salah Eddine BASSIR (Morocco)
Many of the former professionals will also take part in a VIP challenge event planned for December 14th the day before the World Cup Teams go head to head.
